Tested against the fridge-CPAP-router load every review here uses: the most AC output per dollar in the 1kWh class, and where that trade-off bites.

The best output-per-dollar 1kWh battery on the market: $549.99 buys more continuous watts and a faster recharge than anything else in this price class, in a lighter box. Buy it if you want the most headroom for a window AC or space heater without stepping up a tier; buy the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus instead if you need the bigger solar ceiling or the expansion path.

We ran the C1000 Gen 2 through the same test every review on this site uses: charged to full on wall power, then discharged against the fridge-CPAP-router load that's our baseline outage math, with AC output pushed toward its rated ceiling to see where it actually strains. This isn't a lab teardown — that's thesolarlab.com's lane — it's the math and behavior that matter when the grid drops on an ERCOT summer afternoon.
The value math
At $549.99, the C1000 Gen 2's 1,024Wh rated capacity works out to $0.54 per rated watt-hour — after the standard 85% inverter-efficiency haircut, that's about 870 usable Wh. Run the fridge-CPAP-router trio (about 77W average) against that and you land around 11-12 hours, a solid overnight bridge but not a multi-day plan.
That's a slightly worse $/Wh than the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2's current $499 sale price ($0.47/Wh) — but the Jackery number depends on a sale holding, while $549.99 is Anker's everyday price. If Jackery's discount has expired by the time you're buying, the C1000 Gen 2 is the better deal outright, and it beats the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus's $689 ($0.67/Wh) either way.
Where the extra output shows up
2,000W continuous AC is the number that separates this unit from its two closest 1kWh competitors. In testing, it carried our full load — fridge, CPAP, router, plus a microwave burst — with real headroom left over, where the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 (1,500W) was working close to its ceiling on the same load. If your outage plan includes a window AC unit or a space heater, that extra 500W of continuous capacity and 3,000W surge rating is the difference between "runs it" and "runs it with margin for the compressor's startup spike."
The 49-minute UltraFast recharge is also genuinely useful ahead of a forecast storm — point it at wall power for under an hour and you're back to full before the outage even starts. The 10ms UPS switchover did its job in testing too: a laptop and a CPAP stayed on with no visible interruption when we cut wall power mid-run.
Where it comes up short
600W max solar input is the real limitation here — the lowest of the three 1kWh units we've reviewed (EcoFlow's Delta 3 Plus tops out at 1,000W). If wall power is your primary recharge plan, the common case for storm prep, it doesn't matter. If you're counting on panels to get through a multi-day grid-down event, a full recharge from empty takes most of a sunny day, and there's no expansion port to add capacity later — unlike the original Anker C1000 or a Bluetti AC180, this is the battery you buy, permanently.
Who should buy this
Buy it if you want the most AC output per dollar in the 1kWh class and your outage load leans toward a window AC or space heater rather than just electronics — the 2,000W ceiling gives you real margin the other two units in this tier don't.
Skip it for the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 if its sale price is live and portability matters more than output headroom to you. Skip it for the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus if you need the bigger 1,000W solar ceiling or the 5kWh expansion path. Skip it for a Bluetti AC180 or an EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 if your outage load includes a well pump or you're planning for multi-day grid-down rather than an overnight bridge.
